The Sacred Independence of the Motherland is the Basis of the Prosperity of the State and the People
The Exhibition of Economic Achievements of the Country Is Held in the Capital
The Exhibition of Economic Achievements of Turkmenistan to mark the 33rd anniversary of the country’s independence, was held in the capital. The annual event, held on the eve of the main holiday of the Motherland, has become a kind of chronicle of the most important milestones in the development of the national economy, large-scale transformation processes in the social and spiritual life of the Turkmen people and the enhancement of its unique cultural heritage.
The multifaceted exhibition was located next to the Garagum hotel complex. Participants and guests were greeted by creative groups and bagshy musicians, who glorified the Motherland in their performances.
In the Welcoming Address of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the forum participants, it was noted that the extensive exhibition would vividly present the grandiose successes of the national economy and, in general, the dynamics of the growth of our Motherland over the years of sovereign development.
The main goals of the country’s state policy are to achieve sustainable development of the national economy, to scale up market reforms and to improve the standard of living of the population. In this regard, effective work is being carried out for the full-scale implementation of long-term programmes, the diversification of economic growth and the rational and comprehensive use of natural resources. Significant successes were being achieved in expanding import-substituting and export-oriented industries and in introducing innovations and digital technologies in them, as it was emphasised in the message of Arkadagly Hero Serdar.
The exhibition area hosted displays reflecting the progress of the unprecedented scale of the process of modernisation and diversification of all sectors of the national economy, being successfully implemented within the framework of state programmes and innovative projects.
In the pavilions of the Türkmengaz, Türkmennebit and Türkmenhimiýa State Concerns, the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries and the Türkmengeologiýa State Corporation, the dynamics of growth of the basic segments of the economy were clearly presented with the help of demonstration maps and panels. This is a rapidly developing infrastructure, the scale of already developed and currently being developed oil and gas fields, operating directions and planned routes for the export of “blue fuel”, underground deposits of other raw materials and minerals and networks of power transmission lines laid for thousands of kilometres throughout the country.
In the development of natural resources, our Motherland demonstrates their rational use, care for the environment and the implementation of important international initiatives on energy security in the region and the world. Evidence of this is the industrial facilities being put into operation, where special attention is paid to compliance with environmental standards.
The stable economic and political situation in Turkmenistan and the corresponding legislative framework are the main factors in its growing attractiveness for foreign investors. Thus, the world’s largest gas field Galkynyş is currently being developed in the context of specific projects with a focus on long-term partnership, in particular, with the aim of providing natural gas to the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline.
In this context, it should be noted that on September 11 of this year, with the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the foundation stone was laid for the Serhetabat–Herat section, which is an important stage in the implementation of the TAPI project, and the Serhetabat–Herat fibre-optic communication line, called “Arkadagyň ak ýoly” and the Şatlyk-1 gas compressor station in the Mary velayat. The implementation of these projects will have a positive impact on the socioeconomic development of not only the participating countries, but also the region as a whole.
Among the promising areas of the chemical industry are the production of mineral fertilisers, various types of petroleum products and construction materials. The exposition presented the products of the chemical plant for the production of fertilisers in the city of Turkmenabat, the Tejenkarbamid and Marykarbamid plants, the Balkanabat and Bereket iodine plants, the Maryazot and Garabogazsulfat production associations, the Garabogazkarbamid plant and the Garlyk potash mining and processing complex.
The electric power industry is developing at an accelerated pace, the capacity of which not only fully covers domestic electricity needs, but also allows supplying large volumes to the external market. Thousands of kilometres of power transmission lines are being modernised. A solar and wind power plant is being built in the Kizylarvat etrap of the Balkan velayat. Models and diagrams of modern buildings – centres for the repair and maintenance of energy equipment, “green” generator stations and others – were an excellent opportunity to trace the development trend of the Turkmen energy sector in the near future.
Domestic exhibitors also demonstrated their developments in the field of production of renewable energy sources – solar panels and wind generators.
In the year “Fount of Wisdom Magtymguly Pyragy”, the third link of the country’s energy ring, the Balkan–Dashoguz high-voltage power transmission line, was put into operation. Within the framework of this stage, the Balkan and Daşoguz electrical substations with a voltage of 500 kilovolts each were built as well.
A combined communications system with access to the largest international and regional sea, automobile, railway and air hubs is being successfully created in our country. This is convincingly demonstrated by the stands of the transport and communications sector.
In April of the current year, with the participation of Head of State Serdar Berdimuhamedov, a ceremonial commissioning of the Tejen–Mary section of the Ashgabat–Turkmenabat high-speed highway was held. The commissioning of the 600-kilometre Ashgabat–Turkmenabat highway will significantly increase the capacity of the country’s transport system and the quality of logistics services and will stimulate the growth of freight traffic, which will accelerate the dynamics of the national economy.
The opening of the 177-metre railway bridge of the Serhetabat–Torghundi steel railway on the Turkmen-Afghan border on September 11, the start of work on the construction of a warehouse complex in the dry port of the Torghundi railway station and the Torghundi–Sanabar section of the first stage of the Torghundi–Herat railway became another bright page in the glorious history of the independent neutral Motherland, marking a new milestone on the path to the further development of mutually beneficial regional and international partnerships meeting the interests of universal peace, prosperity and progress.
Logistics companies, whose activities are of particular importance in light of the implementation of large-scale international projects in this sphere, also took part in the exhibition. Many exhibitors presented their capabilities in the transportation of large-sized cargo using new technologies.
The content and visual information of the exhibition were focused primarily on the most popular areas of cooperation in Turkmenistan today. One of them is the construction and industrial sector – a promising and rapidly growing branch of the Turkmen economy, which is of great interest to investors and contractors. Models of construction sites, innovative developments and technologies, including those in the field of water supply, lighting, road construction, the active leisure industry and others, were presented there.
One of the most important areas of the country’s economic policy is the production of building materials. On huge banners, videos advertised new products and construction technologies, automatic lines for the production of building materials, pumps and water treatment plants, panel and wall blocks, aluminium and plastic profiles and plumbing and finishing materials.
A striking example of a large-scale urban development programme, initiated by the head of state and aimed at maximising the quality of life and recreation of Turkmen citizens was demonstrated by the stand “White City of Ashgabat”. The international awards that the city of Arkadag had received at the World Smart City Expo 2024, recently held in the Republic of Korea, were also presented.
Speaking about the importance of increasing the potential of the construction industry through the introduction of innovations and advanced technologies, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov identified the successful implementation of the “smart city” and “smart home” projects and housing construction through technological developments in the field of renewable energy sources among key tasks.
In this context, it should be noted that the central exhibits were the architectural models of the Ashgabat City megaproject and the modern city of Arkadag, a visible symbol of the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State.
Of great interest to visitors to the show were the pavilions presented by the Ministry of Finance and Economy and the Central and commercial banks, reflecting the positive influence of economic reforms in the organisation of the trade sector, which stimulated entrepreneurial activity and acquired a market character with a predominance of the private sector, significantly enhancing the positive impact on GDP growth.
A special place in the exhibition was occupied by the stands of the agro-industrial complex, the trade sector and velayat hyakimliks, demonstrating a wide variety of high-quality food products. Among them were various types of meat, dairy, pasta and confectionery products, vegetable oil, baby food, tinned fish, fresh fruit and vegetable products and dried fruit, honey and others. It is important to note that all these products were packaged and designed in accordance with the environmental requirements of international standards.
The Exhibition of Economic Achievements of Turkmenistan also introduced visitors to the successes of entrepreneurs in the field of trade and services and the organisation of work of specialised stores. The range of goods demonstrates a noticeable breakthrough that has occurred in recent years in the private manufacturing sector. Relying on the latest technologies, domestic business has reached a serious industrial level. This concerns consumer electronics, household goods and stylish ones in various design options.
The guests and participants of the show were also interested in the stands demonstrating the successes of the private sector in the agricultural sector and achievements in the field of land reclamation, horse breeding, livestock farming, environment protection and the food and processing industries.
The pavilion of the grain sector presented various varieties of wheat. Thanks to the selfless work of farmers and the agrarian reform being successfully implemented under the leadership of President Serdar
Berdimuhamedov, the granaries of the Motherland are increasing, and the country is fully provided with flour and a wide range of bakery products.
In the section of achievements of Turkmen cotton growers, snow-white bolls of “white gold” and samples of products obtained by processing raw cotton were on display. It should be noted that Turkmen cotton is the main raw material for the national textile industry.
One of the leading export-oriented sectors of the Turkmen economy is the textile industry. High-quality products made of 100-percent cotton and silk were presented by the Ministry of the Textile Industry. A wide range of fabrics, garments and knitwear products are distinguished by their high quality, excellent design and commitment to national traditions.
Visitors to the exhibition were especially attracted by the ornamental and modern handmade carpets of Türkmenhaly enterprises, entrepreneurs and folk artisans engaged in carpet weaving. National clothing, silver jewellery and colourful carpets are unique in their execution and artistic expressiveness.
As part of the careful preservation and widespread popularisation of the spiritual and cultural heritage of the Turkmen people, including hand-made carpet weaving and other types of arts and crafts, master classes of folk craftsmen were organised on the side-lines of the show.
Among the exhibitors was the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan. Thanks to the activities of Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of the country, today sport is an integral part of strengthening the health of modern Turkmen society and its harmonious physical and spiritual development.
One of the striking examples of this is the innovative city of Arkadag. A multifunctional sports complex, an aquatic sports complex and a stadium for 10 thousand seats have been built there, and the Main Directorate of Physical Culture and Sports of the first “smart” city in Turkmenistan has been established.
As is known, during the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS held in the Turkmen capital on May 24 this year, a decision was made to declare Ashgabat the City of New Sports Opportunities of the Commonwealth.
This year, the Tennis Complex of the Olympic Village of the capital was recognised by the Asian Tennis Federation as the Training Centre of the Asian Region. The corresponding certificate was presented on June 1 by the International Tennis Federation Development Officer for West and Central Asia Seyed Amir Borghei.
Along with international certificates, the exhibition presented medals and awards won by Turkmen athletes in various disciplines. Thus, a new bright page in the history of Turkmen sports was written this year by Serdar Rahimov, a student of the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering, who won the first gold medal for our country at the Grand Slam Judo World Series Tournament held in Dushanbe.
The main feature of the exhibition was its spiritual, cultural and intellectual components. The Ministry of Education presented a vivid illustration of significant successes and achievements in the field of science and education, uniting primary, secondary and higher education institutions and academic institutes in one large pavilion. Classrooms for primary schools, modern equipment of university educational laboratories, project scientific developments, educational literature and Cups, won at prestigious student intellectual Olympiads, gave an idea of the high-level education of the younger generation and the training of future scientists and qualified personnel for the country.
The Academy of Sciences presented its successes and potential and promising developments of domestic scientists, attracting attention to the technical and technological achievements of the national scientific school. The State Programme of the Comprehensive Development of Biotechnology in Turkmenistan for 2024–2028 and the Procedure for organising and conducting state registration of scientific programmes (projects), plans and reports on scientific activities was approved. Oguz Han Scientific and Technical Centre under Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan was also founded.
As is known, this year the Technology Centre of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan was awarded the status of the International Science and Technology Park. This decision allows our scientists and engineers to intensify interaction with prestigious foreign specialised centres, including the International Association of Science Parks (IASP).
A unique cluster was formed at the exhibition site by large companies engaged in the field of IT technologies. The practical implementation of the best world and domestic experience in this area and a steady increase in the standard and quality of life of Turkmen citizens are the key criteria for the radical transformations implemented by Head of State Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The Ministry of Health and the Medical Industry presented at the exhibition international certificates attesting to the recognition of the country’s merits in the elimination of a number of infectious diseases, pharmaceutical products, a variety of tools and natural cosmetics.
The pavilion of the State Committee for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography demonstrated various interactive media projects. The stand of the Turkmen State Publishing Service was devoted to modern printing.
Representatives of such a rapidly developing sector as the hospitality and travel industry also make their contribution to enhancing the prestige of our country on the international arena, popularising its successes and achievements, the rich history and culture of the Turkmen people, unique natural sites and historical and cultural monuments. Travel agencies and hotels introduced the exhibition guests to the opportunities and offers in this area.
