Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy of Turkmenistan Marking the 32nd Anniversary of Independence

The Exhibition of Economic Achievements of Turkmenistan, marking the 32nd anniversary of independence, has opened in the capital. The annual economic forum, held by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the eve of the main holiday of the Motherland, is to demonstrate the impressive accomplishments of the national economy that has set foot on the major path of development.

The members of the Government, heads of the Mejlis, security, defence and law-enforcement agencies, representatives of ministries and departments, hyakimliks of velayats and Ashgabat, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited to Turkmenistan, public associations, business circles of our country and the media attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition. The guests included the participants of the XXIV Conference of the Humanitarian Association of Turkmen of the World.

In his Welcoming Address to participants of the Exhibition, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that large-scale forum would be of great importance and, by demonstrating the accomplishments and outstanding achievements of the sovereign Motherland, would give an impetus to our next initiatives and the promotion of new projects.

The spacious showrooms accommodated the multifaceted Exhibition. The pavilions, fitted with modern advertising equipment, were transformed into effective platforms to showcase the achievements of various sectors and a wide range of competitive and in-demand products, new goods and services.

The Exhibition fully illustrated the capacities and contribution of various segments of the economy to the implementation of the government programmes aimed at improving the standard of living of the people and creating favourable conditions for their work and recreation.

It featured high-tech equipment, modern building and finishing materials, computer and communication capacities, achievements in the food industry, the progress in tackling environmental issues, the development of sports, tourism and scientific, human and cultural potentials.

The pavilions of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Central Bank and commercial banks of the country, reflecting the positive impact of economic reforms in the organisation of trade activities, which stimulated entrepreneurial activity and acquired a market character with the predominance of the private sector, significantly increasing the positive impact on GDP growth, were of great interest to visitors.

The large-scale exhibition stand showcased the accelerated pace of development of the basic sector of Turkmenistan’s economy – the fuel and energy sector.

One of the important sectors of the economy – the electric power industry was represented widely at the Exhibition.

The departments of transport and communications set up their pavilions. An important component of the successful development of Turkmenistan’s economy is rendering high-quality and affordable transport services to the people.

The content and business programme of the Exhibition vividly demonstrated the pace of development and the effective implementation of international investment and national projects in all sectors of Turkmenistan’s economy, represented by the ministries and departments, state concerns and associations, banks, the Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange and some enterprises.

The Ministry of the Textile Industry presented products of one of the leading export-oriented sectors of the national economy. Visitors could see a wide range of goods labelled “Made in Turkmenistan”, the high quality and environmental friendliness of which are confirmed by international certificates. These are cotton and silk fibre, yarn, fabrics, garments and souvenirs, national Turkmen clothes and handicrafts.

The development of the construction and industrial sector has a significant role to play in implementing the large-scale government programmes, including the Programme “The Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State: The National Programme of the Socioeconomic Development of Turkmenistan in 2022–2052.”

The videos on huge banners showed new goods and construction technologies, automatic lines and mini-factories that manufacture building materials, pumps and water treatment units, panel and wall blocks, aluminium and plastic profiles, plumbing and finishing materials.

Speaking about the importance of building up capacities of the construction industry by adopting innovations and advanced technologies, the President set the key tasks, including the implementation of “smart city” and “smart home” projects and housing construction using renewable energy technologies.

In this context, it should be noted that the central exhibits were the architectural models of the Ashgabat City megaproject and new modern Arkadag City that is a tangible symbol of the period of the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State.

The exhibition stands of the agroindustrial sector and fisheries and the pavilions of the velayat hyakimliks, demonstrating the wide choice and variety of high-quality meat, dairy, pasta and confectionery products, vegetable oil, baby food, tinned fish, fresh fruit and vegetables, dried fruit, honey and other bee products took a special place at the exhibition.

This bright picture of true food abundance in the markets throughout the country spotlights the essence of economic reforms in this sphere, initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and successfully implemented by Arkadagly Serdar, which are aimed at ensuring the wellbeing of the people and protecting their health. All these products are packaged and designed in compliance with the environmental and aesthetic requirements and international standards.

The spheres of science and education, the development of which Turkmenistan is giving priority, were represented at the Exhibition. Thanks to the introduction of the latest educational information technologies, our students and schoolchildren win international Olympiads and competitions. The stand of the Ministry of Education featured modern equipment of university educational laboratories and the Cups of the prestigious intellectual Olympiads and sports competitions.

The Ministry of Health and the Medical Industry presented international certificates recognising Turkmenistan’s contribution to eliminating a number of infectious diseases, pharmaceutical products, medical instruments and natural cosmetic products.

The pavilion of the State Committee for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography that presented various interactive media projects was of particular interest to visitors. The exhibition stand of the Turkmen State Publishing House featured modern printing equipment, goods and services.

The Exhibition provided platforms for presentations of the achievements of various sectors of Turkmenistan’s economy.

A roundtable meeting on the environmental policy of Turkmenistan, urban planning and the achievements in the oil and gas industry over the years of independence and development prospects of this sector took place.

The business programme of the Exhibition included meetings with representatives of the media and sessions on ongoing educational reform and the achievements in physical education and sports in the year “Happy Youth with Arkadag Serdar”.

The Exhibition of Economic Achievements of Turkmenistan is an effective platform to promote domestic goods in the consumer market that demonstrates the accomplishments of our country as a dynamically developing state with a steadily improving wellbeing of the people, confidently led by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to new heights in the period of the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State.

Upon completion of the Exhibition, its participants received diplomas and certificates.
